Meitheal

The word Meitheal is an Irish word used to describe a community coming together to help each other. In Coolmine, we interview over 80 Third year and TY students who wish to become a Meitheal Leader. Students are trained in areas such as group facilitation and anti-bullying. The role of a Meitheal Leader is to assist our new First year students to acclimatise to life in Coolmine. Our leaders are chosen for their leadership and communication skills and a commitment to improving the lives of our First year students. In the first few weeks they help our First years find their way around  the school, manage their lockers, provide friendly smiles on the corridors and visit them in their Caomhnoir Class. They organise events for First years such the Halloween Party. They also provide assistance at school events.
