An Tua Nua – A New Beginning for Nature in Dublin 15

On Friday, May 8th, we marked the beginning of an exciting new project, An Tua Nua, which aims to create and restore native hedgerows across Dublin 15. This initiative will play an important role in enhancing biodiversity while also building on our previous environmental efforts, including our mini forest and pond projects.

The first step focused on preparing the site, and it was a brilliant team effort. Volunteers worked together to clear the ground, lay cardboard, and spread mulch in preparation for planting. We were delighted to have the support of Maria and Alan Tormey from the Blakestown Drive Community Group, along with volunteers from Amazon Web Services and our own Global and Green Schools representatives. The project is generously funded by Amazon Web Services.

It was a very enjoyable and productive morning, with everyone getting involved and showing great enthusiasm for the work.

The next step will involve planting the hedgerow, which is planned to take place later in the year.
