Launch of National Tree-Planting Initiative in School Garden
Our school was proud to be chosen as the launch site for the 2025 #CoillNaNÓg initiative, a nationwide programme led by Biodiversity in Schools and sponsored by eFlow on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland. Over the next three years, the initiative will see 10,000 native Irish trees planted — with schools across Ireland playing a central role in this effort.
The launch event took place in our school garden, where Diarmuid Hayes from Biodiversity in Schools was joined by Darren and Roisin from eFlow. Students Daniel Hancik, Halle Sumeras, Coilin Zhou, Jason Jones, and Bogdan Deliu took part in planting the first trees, supported by teacher Miss O’Hora. Mr Kinlon was also involved in the project but was absent from the photograph.
This hands-on initiative empowers students to contribute directly to Ireland’s biodiversity and climate goals, while deepening their connection to the natural world.
