Barnardos Children’s Party
Every year, our school’s Community Care team hosts a party for children part of the Barnardos Charity. They are an organisation that protects and supports children and young people in Ireland. The Community Care team is a small group made up of trustworthy and hardworking 5th year students. The parties hosted are all about the Christmas spirit and the season of giving. This event is the highlight of the year for many of those kids as well as the Community Care team.
A big well done to everyone who made the Barnardos Children’s Party 2024 so memorable. Without you, this would never have been possible. The entire party was completely self-funded and a giant amount of work was put in. A huge thank you to:
- Mr. O Shea – for organising the event and communications management
- Community Care team – taking the time to staff parent-teacher meetings and fundraising for the children’s gifts through donations and selling tea and coffee.
- Mr. Langan – dressing up as the famous Santa Claus and handing out the presents
- Mila and Elena – our secretaries, for decorating the place and managing the accounts
- Mr. O Reilly – for making balloon dogs (which ended up as swords which was a lot more entertaining)
- Elaine and Alison – our canteen ladies, who made sausage rolls for all the hardworking people staffing the event
- Corrina and Tracey – for decorating the Christmas trees and the library for the event
The party was a huge success with little faces glowing with happiness on the way out, and some didn’t want to leave. After all the expenses were paid, there was still a whopping €114 left over from the fundraising for the party. All the money will be sent in a cheque to the Barnardos charity in the coming days to light up even more kid’s faces.
Thank you to Ms. McMahon for the photos
