School Trip To Birr Observatory
November 15, 2019
Ms. Patricia Stafford and Ms. Jennifer McIntyre brought 5th year physics to the Observatory in Birr to learn about the Great Telescope (Light microscope) and The Low Frequency Array or LOFAR radio telescope. The students learned about how we explore the universe by measuring different regions of electromagnetic spectrum. They engaged in a workshop on how imaging galaxies and other astronomical objects had developed since 1845 and an activity on gravitational forces. They learned about real life applications of physics. It was a very well organised and enjoyable science week trip.
