D15 Fit Schools Fun Run 2016
The Garda Mounted Unit led the charge in this year’s D15 Fit Schools Fun Run, in sun-filled Porterstown Park on Wednesday April 20th in aid of Cycle Against Suicide. We received huge support for the event again and so we would like to thank Tesco, SuperValu, Quick Print, St John Ambulance, FM104, An Garda Síochána and McGowans of Phibsboro.
First place female student over the finish line went to Castleknock Community College, with Coolmine Community School coming in at a close second. First and second place male student medals were awarded to Riversdale Community College. First place teacher went to Coolmine Community School.
Last year, our sponsorship funds amounted to €3,000. This year we exceeded ourselves by raising an incredible €5,000. This gives us a total figure of €8,000 in the space of a year for ‘Mental Health Awareness’ and the work of ‘Suicide Prevention’. In doing so, we certainly put the ‘Fun’ into fundraising! Well done to the staff and students across the D15 secondary schools for pulling this event together for a second time. A huge “Thank You” to everyone, for your support, altruism and enthusiasm!
