Important Notice regarding MMR Vaccination

September 1, 2015

Dear Parents,

One of our students is receiving medical treatment for cancer, which puts his health at risk if exposed to measles, chickenpox or shingles. We ask for your co-operation in minimising the risk by doing the following:

  • The best way to protect this pupil is for your son/daughter to be given the MMR vaccination (measles, mumps and rubella).
  • If your son/daughter does develop chickenpox, shingles or measles, we ask that you contact the school as soon as possible. We shall inform the parents of the student so that they can take appropriate action.

Your son/daughter is not under any risk whatsoever from this situation.  We are asking for your co-operation for the health and well-being of the pupil who is at risk.  If this pupil is exposed to measles or chickenpox, he can be protected from actually developing the infrection if the exposure is detected promptly.

We appreciate your support in assisting this student to continue with his education throughout his treatment.
