First Year / Meitheal Talent Show

On Monday, 14th May 2007 there was great anticipation all day with final rehearsals taking place. Dancers, singers and guitarists competed for space in the Library.

After lunch all first years were settled into the canteen and the show started with a most colourful dance by the Meitheal. Ciara Manley and Shauna Keogh introduced the acts.

This show is unique because every year there are teachers, first years and Meitheal all performing either together or on their own. Singers from first year included Sinead O’Dowd, Rachel Telford, Vicky Bergin, Megan Sheridan, Sonia Moloney and Sarah Nolan. Sinead McNamara and Erica Neary from the Meitheal sang also. In addition to the Meitheal dance there was Erica Neary’s dance troupe from first year. 

There were rock bands:– Neil Doyle and the two Connors, Brian Martin with his friends, Ronan Scarlett on drums with his friends and of course Cillian Gannon and Connor O’Neill.

The teachers got a great reception. Their performance was excellent with Mr. Medlar leading the way on the spoons, supported by Mr. Halferty and Mr. Cunningham on guitars, Ms. Quirke and Ms. Maguire on box and accordion and Mr. Smith backing on drums.

By 3.45 there had been a lot of music, song and dance. It was great fun. Robert and Danny Kearns made sure that it all sounded super.
