Our Pond Event
This event happened in the school garden on September 9th and 10th 2024. The purpose of the event was to continue promoting biodiversity in our school and to help students understand their role in creating a sustainable future for everyone. It creates a peaceful and reflective space for both students and staff.
Our Global Citizens group were involved with students coming mostly from 2nd, 3rd and TY year groups. There was a lot of hard work involved as students physically removed the topsoil using shovels and wheelbarrows. Pond underlay and rubber liner were laid down. This was followed by pond soil, stone and gravel. Finally, water and pond plants were added.
Student experience of event:
“We enjoyed it very much; it was great fun working as team with our friends but also with adults”. Daniel and Coilin 2nd year
Teacher experience of event:
This was a fantastic event for our students. They had great fun and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air and hard work. They also got to meet and work with some brilliant people and groups
