HEALTHY EATING WEEK 24th – 28th April 2023
“Healthy Snacking” is the theme for Coolmine Community School’s Healthy Eating Week, to be held on 24th – 28th April. The aim is to spread awareness about the importance of nutritious and healthy snacking from a young age and promote the intake of nutrient-rich foods rather than empty calorie foods. There will be free samples of nutrient-rich snacks and fresh fruit at break time for students and staff throughout the week. Kindly sponsored by Lidl, Nourish and Dunnes Stores in the Blanchardstown centre, Dole Ireland, Mc Cambridge bread and Cully and Sully soups (vouchers), Flahavan’s. Nando’s will also be providing high-protein food samples during the week. We will have School Fitness Ireland and our guest speaker will be Paula Duggan of Balance Nutrition.
On Thursday, Paula Duggan of Balance Nutrition will be a guest speaker to give talks to our junior cycle and senior cycle students, informing them about nutrition and healthy eating. School Fitness Ireland will be doing a general fitness circuit session on Wednesday morning with the 1st and 3rd year groups during their PE classes.
There will also be quizzes, competitions and lots of information displayed about healthy foods/snacks all over the school, which the students will be encouraged to actively participate in by putting the displays and posters together. Healthy living week will hopefully provide food for thought for both the students and staff of Coolmine Community School.
