Schools Go Orange Day at Coolmine CS

February 18, 2019

Coolmine CS celebrated #SchoolsGoOrange day on February 15th 2019, spreading the message that ‘It’s OK not to feel OK; and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help.’

One in three young people in Ireland will experience some form of mental health issue in any given year. For the majority of adults living with a mental health problem or mental illness, the first onset of their symptoms began when they were teenagers, and evidence shows that early intervention is critical if treatment is to have the most positive outcomes for the future life chances of affected young people. Schools Go Orange encourages communities to have conversations about mental health and conversations about looking after ourselves and reaching out to each other.

The day of celebration was filled with uplifting activities including a bright welcome to school by orange face painters, orange banners  displayed in the school and music played by the Cool FM team. An orange balloon release was held on the all weather pitch, with all first year students in attendance. The Schools Go Orange team of students organised the following fundraising activities with all proceeds raised going to the charity; Lunchtime cycle races, Orange Ice Cream Sale, Homework pass Sale, Orange Lollipop Sale.

Many thanks to Ms. Carroll and her team of teachers and students who worked very hard to organise this very special event.
