vanguard 3Gerry O’Reilly attended Coolmine Community School from 1976 to 1981. In 1983 he studied Economics at Villanova University, Pennsylvania on a track scholarship. Gerry ran the mile in less than 4 minutes on six occasions and represented Ireland at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

On completion of his studies, Gerry joined the Vanguard Group. Vanguard are one of the worlds largest investment companies overseeing more than $3 trillion in global assets from its approximately 2 million investors.

O’Reilly’s work day involves embracing the volatility of the markets with a $450 billion trading fund. He manages the third largest exchange-traded fund along with 16 other funds. The total assets for which he has responsibility is $800 billion.
