Meitheal Win ‘Mind Your Buddy’ Competition

This year(2010/11) a group from the Meitheal entered and won a competition run by Pieta House to highlight how students can watch out for one another by noticing and supporting someone in their group who is under pressure in some way. The idea is to help them to talk about their difficulty and put them in touch with people who can support them. This could be a teacher, Ceannn Ti, Counsellor or Chaplain.

Pieta House is the Centre for the Prevention of Self-Harm or Suicide. The entry consisted of a three-minute video acted by members of the Meitheal about a girl who was excluded from her group. A song written and sung by members of the group accompanied it. The prize will enable the Meitheal to develop further ways by which students in the school can be supported by their peers.
