U14 Soccer Semi-Final

September 1, 2008

Well done to the under 14 Soccer team who made it to the semi-finals in their league. The match was played on Wednesday 31 of January and unfortunately they lost out in a narrow 1-0 defeat to St Marks, Tallaght.

The game started off badly for Coolmine when within 30 seconds of the start St Marks scored their goal from a well-taken corner. For the rest of the first half the game was very even with both sides having equal chances. Darren Scanlon and Neil Heffernan both stood out for Coolmine.

In the second half it was all Coolmine with the lads playing some great football and with time running out the lads created some excellent chances, in particular Daniel O Reilly who went around the keeper but shot narrowly wide. Unfortunately the goal never came but all credit to the players as they went out fighting with a good positive attitude and will be a much better team for it next year. Well done lads!
